Injury Free Coalition for Kids®
2008 Annual Conference
Forging New Frontiers, the Injury Free Coalition for Kids® Annual Conference, has become a valuable meeting to exchange ideas, best practices and challenges in the field of injury and more recently, obesity prevention.
The objectives of the 2008 Annual Conference are to:
- Provide participants with an opportunity to increase knowledge and techniques through program and scientific abstracts, lectures, panel discussions, and workshops presented by leading experts in the fields of injury and obesity prevention.
- Learn about designing, planning and building healthy communities.
- Gain skills in developing sponsorships and grant support for program sustainability.
- Explore innovative new programs and programs developed for teen driving safety, playground interventions, and to become acquainted with injury prevention efforts in other parts of the world.
Call for Abstracts
The Injury Free Coalition for Kids® is accepting abstracts for the 2008 Forging New Frontiers Conference to be held at the Marriott Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, December 12th, 2008 – December 14, 2008. All abstracts on the topics of injury prevention will be considered. Special consideration will be given to submissions on the following topics:
- Sustainability
- Teen Drivers
- Playground Projects
- New Programs
All submitted abstracts will be considered for presentation and publication.
The Abstract Selection Committee will determine abstracts for both platform presentation and peer reviewed publication in the annual Injury Free Coalition for Kids supplement published by the Journal of Trauma, Infection and Critical Care. Some abstracts will be selected for submission of full length manuscripts for peer review.
Submitted abstracts should be no more than 250 words total. The abstract body should include the following sections:
- Background: The 1 to 3 sentence background should include the context, purpose or objectives of the study.
- Methods: The methods section should concisely explain how the study was carried out and analyzed and should include the number of subjects studied or enrolled as applicable.
- Results/Conclusions: The conclusions should emphasize the relevance of the findings to the field of injury prevention.
Electronic submission allows an efficient review process. All abstracts must be submitted through the website. Failure to follow abstract instructions may be cause for rejection. Abstracts will be acknowledged electronically within 48 hours. If you do not receive acknowledgement, then your abstract has not been received and you should contact the NPO. Deadlines
- All abstracts must be submitted by Midnight (EDST), July 9, 2008.
- Notification of abstracts selected for presentation and presentation/manuscript publication will take place by September 8, 2008.
- Invited manuscripts must be submitted to the Injury Free Coalition for Kids National Program Office by November 1, 2008.
- Invited manuscripts will be submitted to the Journal of Trauma, Infection and Critical Care on December 1, 2008.
