Forging New Frontiers:
Securing Your Organization’s Future
The 13th Annual Conference of The Injury Free Coalition for Kids
and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons
December 12-14, 2008
This year's conference will be jointly sponsored by the Injury Free Coalition for Kids® and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. The main support for this conference has been provided by Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. We have also received additional support from Little Tikes and SofSurfaces. For thirteen years, members of the Injury Free Coalition for Kids, located in Level I Trauma Centers, have met to collaboratively address ways to prevent injuries in communities across the country. For many, Forging New Frontiers, the Coalition's Annual Conference has become a valuable tool to exchange ideas, best practices and challenges in the field of injury and more recently, obesity prevention. It has become a means for exploring intervention techniques, learning about the most current research, and sharing the latest advocacy efforts. For others, it is an opportunity to revitalize their spirit, creative energies and stamina to continue to innovate and sustain healthy communities.
Injury Free Coalition for Kids expects to have approximately 150 attend the 13th Annual Conference. The attendees are principal investigators (physicians), program coordinators (nurses, health educators, social workers, registered dietitians; community participants and researchers). The conference is designed to focus on ways Injury Free sites across the country can build programs that have sustainability and longevity. We will examine the resources for effective interventions and programs that will maintain Injury Free Coalition for Kids as a viable and strong organization. In the spirit of recognizing our many successes and challenges, and meeting our common goals and needs, we invite you to join us for this exciting national conference that is focusing on innovations in sustaining healthy communities in areas of injury and obesity prevention.
The objectives of this conference are to:
- Provide participants with an opportunity to increase knowledge and techniques through program and scientific abstracts, lectures, panel discussions, and workshops by leading experts in the fields of injury and obesity prevention.
- Learn about designing, planning and building for healthy communities
- Gain skills in developing sponsorships and grant support for program sustainability.
- Explore innovative new programs and programs developed for teen driving safety, playground interventions, and injury prevention beyond the borders of the United States.
Participants will be able to earn 12.25 Category I CME credits for the conference.
