2009 Annual Conference
Forging New Frontiers, the annual conference of Injury Free Coalition for Kids®, has become a valuable meeting to foster collaborative research, develop best practices and address challenges in the field of injury prevention and epidemiology.
The objectives of the 2009 Annual Conference are to provide participants with an opportunity to:
- Increase their knowledge and techniques through the sharing of injury prevention programmatic approaches, program and scientific abstracts, lectures, panel discussions, and workshops presented by leading experts in the field of injury prevention and epidemiology.
- Learn about designing, planning and building healthy communities.
Call for Abstracts
Injury Free Coalition for Kids® is accepting abstracts for the 2009 Forging New Frontiers Conference to be held November 29, 2009 - December 1, 2009 at the Harbor Beach Marriott in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. All abstracts on the topics of injury prevention will be considered. Special consideration will be given to submissions on the following topics:
- Home Safety and Prevention of Injuries in the Home Environment
- Electronic Injury Surveillance Systems
- Disparities
- Evaluation of Programmatic Impact
- Working with limited English proficiency populations
- New Programs
All submitted abstracts will be considered for presentation and publication.
The Abstract Selection Committee will determine abstracts for both platform presentation and peer reviewed publication in the annual Injury Free Coalition for Kids supplement published by the Journal of Trauma, Infection and Critical Care. Some abstracts will be selected for submission of full length manuscripts for peer review.
Submitted abstracts should be no more than 250 words total. The abstract body should include the following sections:
- Background: The 1 to 3 sentence background should include the context, purpose or objectives of the study.
- Methods: The methods section should concisely explain how the study was carried out and analyzed and should include the number of subjects studied or enrolled as applicable.
- Results: The results should indicate findings of the research or program.
- Conclusions: The conclusions should emphasize the relevance of the findings to the field of injury prevention.
Deadlines
- All abstracts must be submitted by Midnight (EDST), August 9, 2009, through the www.injuryfree.org website.
- Notification of abstracts selected for presentation and presentation/manuscript publication will take place by September 8, 2009.
- Invited manuscripts must be submitted to the Injury Free Coalition for Kids National Program Office by November 1, 2009.
- Invited manuscripts will be submitted to the Journal of Trauma, Infection and Critical Care on December 31, 2009.
Electronic submission allows an efficient review process. All abstracts must be submitted through the website. Failure to follow abstract instructions may be cause for rejection. Abstracts will be acknowledged electronically within 48 hours. If you do not receive acknowledgement, then your abstract has not been received and you should contact the NPO.
