A hero in the field of injury prevention paid tribute to a matriarch who blazed her trail during Forging New Frontiers, the 19th Annual Injury Free Coalition for Kids conference in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida this weekend. Coalition Founder Barbara Barlow, MD, a recipient of the Centers for Disease Control Hero Award, presented Professor Susan Baker MPH, ScD (Hon.) of Johns Hopkins Injury Free’s first Pioneer Award.

Toys“R”Us has launched a national Product Safety Vigilance Program to help parents take proactive steps to become advocates for children’s safety. The program includes “Eight Steps to Keep Kids Safe,” a checklist to help parents stay informed about product recalls and other potential hazards, as well as a Product Record List to assist parents in organizing and tracking gifts and purchases.

Toys"R"Us works with the Injury Free Coalition for Kids to provide parents and caregivers with safety tips focused on summer safety, including water, bike and wheeled-sport safety, to help parents prevent unintentional injury during a time when kids are often most active. A $10,000 donation from the Toys"R"Us Children's Fund has been designated to help the organization and its local sites.
