Trauma Medical Director, Children's Hospital, Injury Free Coalition for Kids of
Jonathan I. Groner MD is currently director of the Trauma Program at Children’s Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, and Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery at the Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health. He is also a pediatric surgeon at Children’s Hospital, where he has practiced for over a decade. Dr. Groner attended Northwestern University Medical School, and trained in surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin and pediatric surgery at Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Groner’s research interests include trauma and injury prevention. Many of his projects involve large databases and field research. He is currently investigating firearm trauma, pedestrian injuries, injuries due to all terrain vehicles, child abuse, and the impact of trauma on minority children. Dr. Groner has appeared before various committees of the Ohio legislature on numerous occasions to promote the health and safety of Ohio’s children.
Dr. Groner is also the current president of the Central Ohio Trauma System, a consortium of adult and pediatric trauma hospitals in central Ohio. He is also a board member of the Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence. Dr. Groner has a strong interest in medical ethics, and has written and spoken extensively on the subject of physician participation in lethal injection in the United States.
