Washington Park Youth Programs
Washington Park Youth Programs is one of several community-based programs under the banner of Chicago Youth Programs (CYP). CYP is an award winning, innovative program created by concerned volunteers with a proven success of long-term outcomes for its participants. CYP currently offers services in three under-served communities: Cabrini Green, Washington Park, and Uptown. CYP strives to improve the life-opportunities of at-risk youth through a comprehensive approach aimed at developing their overall capabilities. CYP's programming focuses on education, mentoring, recreation, preventative health care, and scholarship and career assistance.
Metropolitan Area Group for Igniting Civilization (MAGIC)
MAGIC created the United Sisters of Civilization (USOC) program because of the overwhelming numbers of female-headed households in Chicago’s Woodlawn community. It became a necessity to begin to prepare a cadre of young women for leadership in the future to provide women a voice in issues that will face them and their families in the future. The USOC program has responded by organizing young women to participate in a leadership development program that provides skills and resources for young women so they can begin to see themselves as leaders.
Urban Youth Café
Urban Youth Café is a teen operated, adult mentored youth program that provides urban teens with opportunities to improve their lives through self development activities, art programs and wellness experiences. Urban Youth Café provides teens with space to explore their innovative creativity, meet with peers and positive adults in a youth centered and youth directed environment.
South East Little League
For almost a decade of summers numerous baseball diamonds have gone unused due to a lack of organized baseball. The founders of South East Little League have rejuvenated interest in the national pastime by establishing an organized league for youth ages 6 to 12.
Guiding Our Talented Youth Ahead (Got Ya!)
Got Ya! is after-school and summer program designed to provide school age youth with a safe-environment to engage in recreational and educational activities.
