Hospital Helmet Distribution

Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Providence

Free bike helmets are distributed to any child (and their siblings) brought into Hasbro Children's Hospital Emergency Department due to a bike, roller blade, skateboard or scooter injury. During the winter months, snow sport helmets are given to children who come in to the ED following a snow sport accident.

Children seen in the Hasbro Children's Hospital Clinics and the Children's Neurodevelopment Center are also screened by clinic nurses regarding their bike helmet use. Children who identify as not having a bike helmet are fitted with a free bike helmet and take a bike safety pledge in front of the nurse and their parent or guardian.
