Programs

RESEARCH

Passenger Safety in Multicultural and Multi-ethnic Communities: To evaluate the impact of high visibility law enforcement efforts and culturally relevant passenger safety education and car seat inspections in diverse communities. Specific populations include diverse Hispanic groups and Haitian Creole.

Miami-Dade County Injury Surveillance System: A joint effort between the University of Miami and the Miami-Dade County Health Department to build an electronic injury morbidity and mortality database to guide injury prevention and evaluation efforts.

Injury Free Mobile: To assess the effectiveness of a mobile child injury prevention center on reaching diverse and hard to reach communities on child safety knowledge among parents/caregivers and health professionals.

In-home Coaching on Child Safety: To assess safety training by family coaches on knowledge and behavior change among new moms of infants during home visits.

Health Disability: To assess juveniles entering the penal system to examine health and disability status.
