Super Safe Comics at the Movies

August 1, 2011 - Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Hartford

In July 2011, Super Safe Comics hit the big screen! Captain Super Safe’s fully animated adventure was seen in theaters throughout Connecticut during the movie pre-show. The 60-second adventure focused on bike helmet use and the prevention of brain injury. The animated public service announcement was featured in selected movie theaters in Connecticut as well as on Animal Planet, ABC Family, TOON, and NICK! You can now check the video out on You Tube! Injury Free Program Coordinator Luis Rivera stated, “It has been a big hit with the kids! From the educational comic book series to the cartoon, they love it. The next issue coming out this Fall will focus on youth sports and concussions.” The Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Hartford based at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center is now seeking other institutional partners with an effort that would allow these partners to re-brand all Super Safe Comics materials with their own logos for use in their home markets. The project director, Kevin Borrup added, “we think there is an opportunity here to use this exciting product to engage kids around the country as advocates for their own safety.”
