Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Atlanta Receives Recognition

July 1, 2006 - Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Atlanta

Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Atlanta receives Urban Safety and Survival Award for their Injury Prevention Education provided to local youth and seniors. Through a grant funded by the US Department of Homeland Security: US Fire Administration Safety Education Grant the Atlanta Fire and Rescue Department sponsored a series of injury prevention education sessions tailored to both youth and senior populations.

Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Atlanta was invited to participate and provide injury prevention education and resources to those who attended. Youth were recruited from the Atlanta Parks and Recreation Department and from the Atlanta Housing Authority - Senior Housing Communities across Metro Atlanta. Over 400 senior’s participated and more than 300 youth attended the event. Although the topics related to injury prevention were taken seriously by those event participants the fun and prizes made the event that much more memorably for those who participated. Everyone was a winner and Injury Free. For more information about this program or our other programs please feel free to contact us at 404-616-3159.
