Camera Club begins again in Philadelphia!

October 24, 2002

Modeled after the Shoot with Cameras not Guns program of IFCK Los Angeles, IFCK Philadelphia has developed a Camera Club that is going to be working with 3rd and 4th graders at the Bartram Beacon After School Program in West Philadelphia. Children will have the opportunity to learn photograph and writing skills, communication strategies, community strength, and the process of change during this weekly after school program. During the 16 week program, students will be encouraged to think about what they like about their neighborhoods and what they would like to change. They will receive two box cameras with instructions on photo taking. Students will also have a field trip to visit the anti-violence exhibits at the Liberty Museum in Philadelphia. The conclusion of their hard work will be presented in a photo exhibit both at the Bartram Beacon and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
