Teens produce seatbelt videos in state contest

The state Department of Public Safety has narrowed the field to three finalists in its "Buckle Up Teens! TV Commercial Challenge." Teenagers from across the state produced more than 70 public service videos on safety-belt use; the winner gets a grand prize of $500, with the winning video airing June 11 on KARE-TV's "Whatever" program.

Finalists are:

-- "Smart Girlfriend," Nick Guttormson and Carryn Christianson from Fillmore Central High School.

-- "It Can't Do It For You," Yoko Okumura and Anna Rouse from Perpich Center for Arts Education.

-- "Fire Fighters Can't Fix It," Kellen Berg, Nick Beatty and Ben Waldhauser from New Richmond Heartland Ellendale Geneva High School.

Voting ends at noon on June 7.
