The 2nd Annual Neil Smith "Buckle Up America" 5K run/walk was held on May 17, 2003. Volunteers from Truman Medical Center and Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Kansas City at Truman Medical Center participated in the event to increase awareness for seat belt usage.

There were over 200 participants in the run/walk. Funds raised will be used for injury prevention efforts through Truman Medical Center Trauma Services. There were 9 car seats checked and 17 seats distributed. 374 people were observed during the seat belt check with 72% being buckled up.
