On May 17th, 2003, a celebration was held at Ivanhoe Park. The celebration marked the first anniversary of the renaming of the park and recognized the partners that had participated in the October 2002 playground build.

Members from Ivanhoe Neighborhood Association, CNA Insurance, Kauffman Foundation, Truman Medical Center and Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Kansas City hosted the celebration in the park. The day included games, food and fun.

Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Kansas City at Truman Medical Center distributed 133 "Safe at Home" bags and fitted and distributed 137 bike helmets. Volunteers from Truman Medical Center (TMC) also checked 35 blood pressures and distributed Health Passports. TMC and Family Health Partners distributed prevention information including playground safety.
