Program/Event Details:
We will use donations from Injury Free Coalition for Kids to put on an additional community safety workshop with Sacred Heart Community Service in San Jose, CA. Sacred Heart is a community resources center. They provide food, clothing, housing services, job services, etc to families in the Bay Area, CA. They have an onsite preschool. Many of the parents who use this onsite facility are ESL, first generation, Latinx families seeking services. We do a workshop that covers child passenger safety, safe sleep, and home safety entirely in Spanish. We then provide families with car seats, pack n play, swaddles, and home safety kits at no cost. We have also trained one of their staff members as a CPST in case a family needs help with a car seat onsite and we are not there to assist. We will serve 26 families. This event will take place Thursday, November 17. We will have 4 staff total, two from LPCHS and two from Sacred Heart.
