NCPW hosted a Safety Carnival to educate families on ways to prevent injuries in kids. We had booths on water safety, fire safety, safe sleep, car seat safety/motor vehicle, and safe storage. Each booth had a corresponding carnival game kids can play, while our team is educating parents and guardians on ways to prevent injuries in these areas. The carnival was free and advertised to all the practices in the Novak Center and was on November 18th from 9am to noon. We partnered with Norton Children's Hospital residents and our forensics team to help educate families and facilitate the carnival for a total of around 15 staff. We handed out education at each table and also gave prizes to the kids. We had demonstrations on how to fit a life jacket, we let the kids practice how to stop drop and roll, we showed what a gun lock looks like and how to use it, discusses the best way to store medication, and did car seat and safe sleep demonstrations. This year we educated 68 adults, over 80 children, and reached almost 40 households!
