Epidemiologist, Injury Free Coalition for Kids of

Dennis is a pediatric emergency medicine physician and clinical epidemiologist. He is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Epidemiology at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. An internationally recognized leader in pediatric trauma research, Dr. Durbin is the director of research for TraumaLink: The Interdisciplinary Pediatric Injury Control Research Center and the director of research for the Division of Emergency Medicine at CHOP.

Dr. Durbin's research interests are in the area of pediatric injury epidemiology with particular emphases on the prevention of motor vehicle occupant injuries to children and on the organization and utilization of acute care resources for injured children.

He is also the co-principal investigator of "Partners for Child Passenger Safety" with Dr. Winston, a mulit-year study of children in motor vehicle crashes funded by State Farm Insurance Co. Dr. Durbin also collaborates with several other investigators on projects related to children's injury, including a study of the premature graduation of young children into seat belts, and a study of pediatric pedestrian injuries. He is the recipient of the prestigious Highway Safety Hero Award from the Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety for his research efforts in child passenger safety.
