Programs

The injury prevention department at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh is part of the Department of Trauma. As a Level I Trauma program we have access to the most updated trauma statistics for our area and are able to base our programs on the needs of our communities. In addition, we partner with many hospital departments to bring a full range of services to our projects and involve as many employees as possible to keep injury prevention in everyone’s focus. Our community partnerships include law enforcement, EMS, fire departments, school districts, community agencies, businesses, parks and recreation and families. Our programs are funded by FedEx Ground, Equitrans Midstream Foundation, The Gismondi Family Foundation, American Trauma Society - PA Division, and American Academy of Pediatrics.

UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is a 313-bed regional pediatric referral center that has provided comprehensive primary and specialty care to infants, children and young adults for more than a century. The hospital, renowned for its pediatric centers of excellence, is also the only accredited Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center in western Pennsylvania and one of only three Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Centers accredited by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation. The mission of the hospital is to improve the health and well being of all children through excellence in patient care, research and education and to serve as a resource for the entire community.
