Bicycle Safety Clinic

Injury Free Coalition for Kids

Date: Tue, Jul 30, 2002
Time: 9am -12pm

Location: Southwest Family Center Summer Camp, Mitchell Elementary School
Organizer/Sponsor: David Holtzman, IFCK Philadelphia

Our Bicycle Safety Clinics aim to educate children about ways they can be safe while riding a bike. The Safety Clinics focus on the importance of wearing a properly fitting helmet every time you ride a bike, scooter, rollerblades, or skateboard and go through the steps to make sure a helmet fits correctly. We also talk about the dangers of riding and ways we can be safe. This includes what to wear, where to ride, important traffic signs and hand signals to know, and riding skills for riding on streets that are crowded with moving and parked cars, pedestrians, and other obstacles.

Depending upon the venue, children will receive a free, individually fitted helmet from IFCK Philadelphia. In addition, if space permits we will hold the Safety Clinic outside where kids can practice several cycling skills that are important in staying safe.
