In December 2005, IFCK of Columbus wrapped up the Youth Photo Project, “Do You See What I See?” a collaborative effort involving the Milo-Grogan Boys and Girls Club and the Columbus Area Pedestrian Safety Committee. Participants, who ranged in age from 12 to 16 years, used disposable cameras to photograph things in their neighborhood that they felt influenced their safety and well-being. Five students completed the project and their photographs were displayed at a local Neighborhood Pride Celebration event, sponsored by the Columbus City Mayor’s Office. Gail Brown, Director of the Milo-Grogan Boys and Girls Club, spoke at the event about the positive impact the project had on the teens, and the students had the opportunity to meet the mayor and discuss their work with community leaders.
