The Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Chicago has been a part of the Illinois Poison Center’s Urban Pediatric Satellite Education Network since September, 2003. Under this program, IFCK staff has trained more than 100 Volunteer Poison Educators. These educators represent a diverse group of people from many different communities and professional backgrounds. They spread the poison prevention message at parenting classes, child passenger safety events, health fairs, and at well child visits with pediatricians. In 2016, with funding from a grant from Safe Kids Worldwide and McNeil Healthcare, we are also working to educate parents and healthcare professionals about medication safety.
