For the 5th annual National Injury Prevention Day, on Nov 18th 2024, the Injury Free site at Columbia University teamed up with injury prevention coordinator Rob Curran from NYP Weill Cornell University to Shine a Green light on the Injury problem in NYC and also to bring community education to the neighborhoods of Washington Heights/Inwood.

  • Date: Monday, November 18, 2024 Time: 2-5pm. Location: Outdoor event at Mitchell Square W. 166th – W. 168th street (Broadway & St. Nicholas). This location is opposite the pediatric and adult emergency room. This time was selected to reach children and families walking home from school. p>
  • We had tables with different injury prevention topics and representatives from agencies from throughout the City, NYP and Columbia University Medical Center including:

  • NYC Department of Health - Healthy Homes Program
  • NYC Poison Prevention Center
  • FDNY
  • NYP EMS provided tours on the ambulance
  • NYP Weill Cornell
  • NYP Columbia University Medical Center Office of Government and Community Affairs
  • Columbia School of Nursing - Hands-Only CPR Adult/NARCAN Training
  • Columbia Center for Injury Science and Prevention - Pedestrian Safety with Clifford Takes a Walk Book
  • Pluma Poetica - Anti Bullying Program and Arts and Crafts for the children.
